# Alarm.com vs Virtual Keypad

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Virtual Keypad at 66% against Alarm.com's 23%. Virtual Keypad also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 weeks) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Alarm.com's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (141K vs 13K). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Alarm.com holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alarm.com has 141K ratings behind it against 13K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of Alarm.com's written reviews are positive against 66% of Virtual Keypad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Alarm.com ships an update every 4 weeks, Virtual Keypad every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
