# SMS Export vs TextPort

The clearest difference is price: TextPort at Free against SMS Export's $4.99. TextPort also leads on rating (4.4 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 44 months). SMS Export's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 26) and review sentiment (73% vs 60%). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

TextPort is free to download; SMS Export costs $4.99 up front. TextPort sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. SMS Export asks for nothing beyond the download.

TextPort holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TextPort has 1.4K ratings behind it against 157, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of SMS Export's written reviews are positive against 60% of TextPort's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SMS Export ships an update every 44 months, TextPort every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
