# Dexigner vs Scientific American

Dexigner and Scientific American both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 90% of Dexigner's written reviews are positive against 49% of Scientific American's. Dexigner also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 20) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months). Scientific American's advantage is ratings volume (10K vs 97) and chart position (#102 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scientific American sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Dexigner asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Dexigner against 4.8 for Scientific American. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scientific American has 10K ratings behind it against 97, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of Dexigner's written reviews are positive against 49% of Scientific American's.

Dexigner ships an update every 2 weeks, Scientific American every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
