# Barrel Defender vs Action Buggy

The clearest difference is rating: Action Buggy at 4.9 against Barrel Defender's 4.0. Action Buggy also leads on monetization model (free vs paid) and update cadence (every 11 months vs every 39 months). Barrel Defender's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 74%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Barrel Defender costs $0.99 and Action Buggy $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Action Buggy holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Action Buggy has 19 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Barrel Defender's written reviews are positive against 74% of Action Buggy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Barrel Defender ships an update every 39 months, Action Buggy every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
