# NAIPS vs METAR

The clearest difference is price: METAR at Free against NAIPS's $7.99. METAR also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 6 weeks) and ratings volume (22 vs 1). NAIPS's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 3.8) and in-app purchases (none vs 1). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

METAR is free to download; NAIPS costs $7.99 up front. METAR sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. NAIPS asks for nothing beyond the download.

NAIPS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: METAR has 22 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of NAIPS's written reviews are positive against 57% of METAR's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NAIPS ships an update every 6 weeks, METAR every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
