# Official Comic vs When We Were Young

The clearest difference is ads: Official Comic at none against When We Were Young's shown. Official Comic also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 12 months) and rating (3.1 vs 2.9). When We Were Young's advantage is review sentiment (41% vs 18%). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Official Comic holds the better App Store score, 3.1 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Official Comic has 459 ratings behind it against 45, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Official Comic's written reviews are positive against 41% of When We Were Young's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Official Comic ships an update every 3 months, When We Were Young every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
