# Official Comic vs LightBox Expo

The clearest difference is rating: LightBox Expo at 4.2 against Official Comic's 3.1. LightBox Expo also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Official Comic's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 12 months) and review sentiment (18% vs 0%). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

LightBox Expo holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Official Comic has 459 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Official Comic's written reviews are positive against 0% of LightBox Expo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Official Comic ships an update every 3 months, LightBox Expo every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
