# Mad Libs vs The Ultimate Buzzer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: The Ultimate Buzzer at none against Mad Libs's 10. The Ultimate Buzzer also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and rating (4.4 vs 4.1). Mad Libs's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (57% vs 32%). On price, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mad Libs sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. The Ultimate Buzzer asks for nothing beyond the download.

The Ultimate Buzzer holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Ultimate Buzzer has 15K ratings behind it against 2.9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Mad Libs's written reviews are positive against 32% of The Ultimate Buzzer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mad Libs ships an update every 4 months, The Ultimate Buzzer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
