# Mad Libs vs LEGO® Play

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: LEGO® Play at none against Mad Libs's 10. LEGO® Play also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.1). Mad Libs's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 43%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.4). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mad Libs sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. LEGO® Play asks for nothing beyond the download.

LEGO® Play holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2.9K and 13K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Mad Libs's written reviews are positive against 43% of LEGO® Play's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mad Libs ships an update every 4 months, LEGO® Play every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
