# Trillian vs Cisco Jabber

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Cisco Jabber at none against Trillian's 4. Cisco Jabber also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (17K vs 577). Trillian's advantage is review sentiment (57% vs 27%) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trillian sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Cisco Jabber asks for nothing beyond the download.

Cisco Jabber holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cisco Jabber has 17K ratings behind it against 577, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Trillian's written reviews are positive against 27% of Cisco Jabber's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Trillian ships an update every 5 days, Cisco Jabber every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
