# GPS Stone vs GPS Status

The clearest difference is rating: GPS Stone at 3.6 against GPS Status's 3.1. GPS Status's advantage is review sentiment (61% vs 42%) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 21 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

GPS Stone holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Status has 36 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of GPS Stone's written reviews are positive against 61% of GPS Status's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GPS Stone ships an update every 21 months, GPS Status every 6 months. Both last shipped on October 22, 2026.
