# Chess.com vs Chess Remix

The clearest difference is rating: Chess.com at 4.8 against Chess Remix's 4.4. Chess.com also leads on ratings volume (872K vs 115) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). Chess Remix's advantage is review sentiment (76% vs 64%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess.com sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Chess Remix sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chess.com holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess.com has 872K ratings behind it against 115, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Chess.com's written reviews are positive against 76% of Chess Remix's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Chess.com ships an update weekly, Chess Remix monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
