# Crunchyroll vs Anime Wallpaper

Crunchyroll and Anime Wallpaper both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 73% of Anime Wallpaper's written reviews are positive against 47% of Crunchyroll's. Crunchyroll's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (1.5M vs 84K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crunchyroll sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Anime Wallpaper sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Crunchyroll against 4.9 for Anime Wallpaper. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Crunchyroll has 1.5M ratings behind it against 84K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 47% of Crunchyroll's written reviews are positive against 73% of Anime Wallpaper's.

Crunchyroll ships an update weekly, Anime Wallpaper every 4 weeks. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
