# Walkmeter Walking GPS Tracker vs Stepz

The clearest difference is monetization model: Walkmeter Walking GPS Tracker at freemium against Stepz's subscription. Walkmeter Walking GPS Tracker also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Stepz's advantage is review sentiment (77% vs 65%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Walkmeter Walking GPS Tracker sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Stepz sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Walkmeter Walking GPS Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 14K and 33K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Walkmeter Walking GPS Tracker's written reviews are positive against 77% of Stepz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
