# Time Timer vs Thorium

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Thorium at none against Time Timer's 1. Thorium also leads on iOS requirement (8.2 vs 16.0). Time Timer's advantage is ratings volume (15K vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Time Timer sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.95 per year. Thorium asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Time Timer against 4.5 for Thorium. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Time Timer has 15K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of Time Timer's written reviews are positive against 67% of Thorium's.

Time Timer ships an update every 2 weeks, Thorium every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 25, 2026 respectively.
