# Audubon Bird Guide vs Birdgram US

The clearest difference is rating: Audubon Bird Guide at 4.3 against Birdgram US's 3.1. Audubon Bird Guide also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (4.5K vs 7). Birdgram US's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Audubon Bird Guide holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Audubon Bird Guide has 4.5K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Audubon Bird Guide's written reviews are positive against 67% of Birdgram US's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Audubon Bird Guide ships an update every 3 weeks, Birdgram US every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
