# ForeFlight Mobile EFB vs Windsock

The clearest difference is review sentiment: ForeFlight Mobile EFB at 68% against Windsock's 0%. ForeFlight Mobile EFB also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 14 months). Windsock's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ForeFlight Mobile EFB sells 14 one-off in-app purchases and Windsock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Windsock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ForeFlight Mobile EFB has 3.3K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of ForeFlight Mobile EFB's written reviews are positive against 0% of Windsock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ForeFlight Mobile EFB ships an update every 2 weeks, Windsock every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
