# Scanner Pro vs ID Scanner

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Scanner Pro at 78% against ID Scanner's 13%. Scanner Pro also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.3) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). ID Scanner's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner Pro sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and ID Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner Pro has 337K ratings behind it against 818, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 78% of Scanner Pro's written reviews are positive against 13% of ID Scanner's.

Scanner Pro ships an update fortnightly, ID Scanner every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
