The clearest difference is rating: 凤凰视频HD at 4.4 against 南方周末's 2.5. HD also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ratings volume (752 vs 32). 南方周末's advantage is review sentiment (74% vs 50%) and device support. On price there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 南方周末 sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. HD asks for nothing beyond the download.

HD holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 凤凰视频HD has 752 ratings behind it against 32, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 74% of 南方周末's written reviews are positive against 50% of 凤凰视频HD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
