# Catan Classic vs Stratego® Online

The clearest difference is price: Stratego® Online at Free against Catan Classic's $4.99. Stratego® Online also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and review sentiment (34% vs 25%). Catan Classic's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (3.7 vs 3.3). On in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Stratego® Online is free to download; Catan Classic costs $4.99 up front. Catan Classic sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Stratego® Online sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Catan Classic holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Catan Classic has 11K ratings behind it against 210, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Catan Classic's written reviews are positive against 34% of Stratego® Online's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Catan Classic ships an update every 5 months, Stratego® Online every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
