# Victory Shield vs Gryphon HomeBound

The clearest difference is rating: Victory Shield at 4.3 against Gryphon HomeBound's 2.4. Victory Shield also leads on ratings volume (60K vs 36) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 4 months). Gryphon HomeBound's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 7) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Victory Shield sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Gryphon HomeBound asks for nothing beyond the download.

Victory Shield holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Victory Shield has 60K ratings behind it against 36, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of Victory Shield's written reviews are positive against 31% of Gryphon HomeBound's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Victory Shield ships an update every 5 weeks, Gryphon HomeBound every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
