# Shakespeare vs The Classic Books

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: The Classic Books at none against Shakespeare's 1. Shakespeare's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shakespeare sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. The Classic Books asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Shakespeare against 4.5 for The Classic Books. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shakespeare has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shakespeare ships an update every 6 weeks, The Classic Books every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
