# Shakespeare vs Bookbit

The clearest difference is ads: Shakespeare at none against Bookbit's shown. Shakespeare also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.4). Bookbit's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 9 days). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shakespeare sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Bookbit sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shakespeare ships an update every 9 days, Bookbit daily. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
