# Opera vs Speed Reading

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Speed Reading at 100% against Opera's 33%. Speed Reading also leads on rating (5.0 vs 2.8) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 5 weeks). Opera's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ratings volume (92 vs 4). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Reading sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Opera asks for nothing beyond the download.

Speed Reading holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Opera has 92 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of Opera's written reviews are positive against 100% of Speed Reading's.

Opera ships an update every 5 weeks, Speed Reading every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
