# Depth vs Picture Fish

The clearest difference is price: Picture Fish at Free against Depth's $0.99. Picture Fish also leads on rating (4.5 vs 1.0) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 21 months). Depth's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and review sentiment (50% vs 36%). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Picture Fish is free to download; Depth costs $0.99 up front. Picture Fish sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Depth asks for nothing beyond the download.

Picture Fish holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Picture Fish has 5.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Depth's written reviews are positive against 36% of Picture Fish's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Depth ships an update every 21 months, Picture Fish every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on August 22, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
