# CommStudy vs FCC Exam Prep

The clearest difference is rating: FCC Exam Prep at 5.0 against CommStudy's 4.5. FCC Exam Prep also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 20 months). CommStudy's advantage is ratings volume (49 vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.3 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CommStudy sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and FCC Exam Prep sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FCC Exam Prep holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CommStudy has 49 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CommStudy ships an update every 20 months, FCC Exam Prep every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
