# WPXI News vs PG Reader

The clearest difference is update cadence: WPXI News at every 5 weeks against PG Reader's every 8 months. WPXI News also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (19K vs 2K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for WPXI News against 4.7 for PG Reader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WPXI News has 19K ratings behind it against 2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 41% of WPXI News's written reviews are positive against 32% of PG Reader's.

WPXI News ships an update every 5 weeks, PG Reader every 8 months. Both last shipped on October 20, 2026.
