# getAbstract Book Summaries vs O'Reilly

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: O'Reilly at none against getAbstract Book Summaries's 9. O'Reilly also leads on ratings volume (34K vs 288) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). getAbstract Book Summaries's advantage is review sentiment (73% vs 46%) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.5). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. getAbstract Book Summaries sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. O'Reilly asks for nothing beyond the download.

O'Reilly holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: O'Reilly has 34K ratings behind it against 288, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of getAbstract Book Summaries's written reviews are positive against 46% of O'Reilly's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

getAbstract Book Summaries ships an update every 2 months, O'Reilly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
