# Garmin Pilot vs Wind Radar Map

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Wind Radar Map at 81% against Garmin Pilot's 42%. Wind Radar Map also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.0). Garmin Pilot's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (4.1K vs 122). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Garmin Pilot sells 18 one-off in-app purchases and Wind Radar Map sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Garmin Pilot holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Garmin Pilot has 4.1K ratings behind it against 122, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Garmin Pilot's written reviews are positive against 81% of Wind Radar Map's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Garmin Pilot ships an update fortnightly, Wind Radar Map monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
