# MacMost vs Readwise Highlights

The clearest difference is rating: Readwise Highlights at 4.8 against MacMost's 4.0. Readwise Highlights also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 45 months) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 9). MacMost's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 8) and review sentiment (82% vs 69%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Readwise Highlights sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. MacMost asks for nothing beyond the download.

Readwise Highlights holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Readwise Highlights has 1.5K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of MacMost's written reviews are positive against 69% of Readwise Highlights's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MacMost ships an update every 45 months, Readwise Highlights every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
