# WMAL vs The Team 980

The clearest difference is rating: WMAL at 4.6 against The Team 980's 2.2. WMAL also leads on ratings volume (1.4K vs 51) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). The Team 980's advantage is review sentiment (38% vs 23%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

WMAL holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WMAL has 1.4K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of WMAL's written reviews are positive against 38% of The Team 980's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WMAL ships an update every 2 months, The Team 980 every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
