# Kappboom vs Unsplash

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Unsplash at none against Kappboom's 4. Unsplash also leads on ads (none vs shown). Kappboom's advantage is review sentiment (87% vs 75%) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, rating, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Kappboom sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Unsplash asks for nothing beyond the download.

Unsplash holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 32K and 13K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Kappboom's written reviews are positive against 75% of Unsplash's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Kappboom ships an update fortnightly, Unsplash every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
