# SVT Play vs Yle Areena

The clearest difference is rating: Yle Areena at 4.6 against SVT Play's 3.7. Yle Areena also leads on ratings volume (1.4K vs 23). SVT Play's advantage is review sentiment (53% vs 43%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Yle Areena holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Yle Areena has 1.4K ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of SVT Play's written reviews are positive against 43% of Yle Areena's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
