# Birthdays vs Birthday Countdown

The clearest difference is price: Birthday Countdown at Free against Birthdays's $5.00. Birthday Countdown also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (8K vs 141). Birthdays's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (82% vs 74%). On rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Birthday Countdown is free to download; Birthdays costs $5.00 up front. Birthdays sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Birthday Countdown sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Birthday Countdown holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Birthday Countdown has 8K ratings behind it against 141, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Birthdays's written reviews are positive against 74% of Birthday Countdown's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Birthdays ships an update every 3 months, Birthday Countdown every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
