# Star Chart vs Constellation Map mobile

The clearest difference is ads: Star Chart at none against Constellation Map mobile's shown. Star Chart also leads on ratings volume (25K vs 4.6K) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 13.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Star Chart sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Constellation Map mobile sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Star Chart against 4.7 for Constellation Map mobile. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Star Chart has 25K ratings behind it against 4.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 85% of Star Chart's written reviews are positive against 86% of Constellation Map mobile's.

Star Chart ships an update fortnightly, Constellation Map mobile every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
