# iGeneration vs AppleInsider

The clearest difference is rating: iGeneration at 4.7 against AppleInsider's 3.3. iGeneration also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 8 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iGeneration sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and AppleInsider sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iGeneration holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 54 and 49 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of iGeneration's written reviews are positive against 29% of AppleInsider's.

iGeneration ships an update every 4 days, AppleInsider every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
