# TV24 vs HVG

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HVG at none against TV24's 1. HVG also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.5 vs 4.1). TV24's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 42%). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TV24 sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month. HVG asks for nothing beyond the download.

HVG holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 18 and 79 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of TV24's written reviews are positive against 42% of HVG's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TV24 ships an update every 5 weeks, HVG monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
