# Space Images vs Earthlapse

The clearest difference is rating: Space Images at 4.6 against Earthlapse's 4.1. Space Images also leads on update cadence (every 4 months vs every 12 months). Earthlapse's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Space Images holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 25 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Space Images's written reviews are positive against 71% of Earthlapse's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Space Images ships an update every 4 months, Earthlapse every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
