# Elevation For Real vs Altimeter

The clearest difference is rating: Altimeter at 4.6 against Elevation For Real's 3.3. Altimeter also leads on ratings volume (1.3K vs 4) and iOS requirement (18.5 vs 26.1). Elevation For Real's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (86% vs 56%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Elevation For Real sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Altimeter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Altimeter holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Altimeter has 1.3K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Elevation For Real's written reviews are positive against 56% of Altimeter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
