# Files vs AVDocuments

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Files at 55% against AVDocuments's 0%. Files also leads on rating (4.7 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (12K vs 11). AVDocuments's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 4 months) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Files sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and AVDocuments sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Files holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Files has 12K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of Files's written reviews are positive against 0% of AVDocuments's.

Files ships an update every 4 months, AVDocuments every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
