# Files vs ShiftLedger

The clearest difference is update cadence: ShiftLedger at every 2 days against Files's every 4 months. ShiftLedger also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Files's advantage is ratings volume (13K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Files sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and ShiftLedger sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ShiftLedger holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Files has 13K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Files ships an update every 4 months, ShiftLedger every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
