# AlloCiné vs mk2

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: mk2 at none against AlloCiné's 7. mk2 also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). AlloCiné's advantage is ratings volume (355 vs 2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AlloCiné sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. mk2 asks for nothing beyond the download.

mk2 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AlloCiné has 355 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of AlloCiné's written reviews are positive against 46% of mk2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AlloCiné ships an update fortnightly, mk2 every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
