# ProPublica vs The Intelligencer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: ProPublica at 75% against The Intelligencer's 29%. ProPublica also leads on ratings volume (105 vs 1) and chart position (#187 vs unranked). The Intelligencer's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 12.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Intelligencer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ProPublica has 105 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of ProPublica's written reviews are positive against 29% of The Intelligencer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
