# Goodreads vs Reading Tracker

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Goodreads at none against Reading Tracker's 15. Goodreads also leads on ratings volume (760K vs 285) and chart position (#6 vs unranked). Reading Tracker's advantage is review sentiment (89% vs 64%) and update cadence (every 8 days vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Reading Tracker sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Goodreads asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Goodreads against 4.8 for Reading Tracker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Goodreads has 760K ratings behind it against 285, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 64% of Goodreads's written reviews are positive against 89% of Reading Tracker's.

Goodreads ships an update monthly, Reading Tracker every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
