# RTÉ News vs Irish Echo

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Irish Echo at 100% against RTÉ News's 31%. Irish Echo also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). RTÉ News's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.7) and in-app purchases (none vs 5). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Irish Echo sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. RTÉ News asks for nothing beyond the download.

RTÉ News holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RTÉ News has 210 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 31% of RTÉ News's written reviews are positive against 100% of Irish Echo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RTÉ News ships an update every 6 weeks, Irish Echo every 30 months. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
