# 财新 vs Snopes

The clearest difference is monetization model: Snopes at free with in-app purchases against 财新's subscription. Snopes also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 财新 sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Snopes sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Snopes holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.2K and 650 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 63% of 财新's written reviews are positive against 67% of Snopes's.

财新 ships an update monthly, Snopes every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
