# Rice vs MyUT Austin

The clearest difference is rating: MyUT Austin at 4.6 against Rice's 1.5. MyUT Austin also leads on ratings volume (50 vs 4). Rice's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 35%) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MyUT Austin holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MyUT Austin has 50 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Rice's written reviews are positive against 35% of MyUT Austin's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Rice ships an update every 2 months, MyUT Austin every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
