# Board vs Colored Note

The clearest difference is rating: Colored Note at 4.7 against Board's 4.0. Colored Note also leads on ratings volume (5K vs 4) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Board's advantage is iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Colored Note holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Colored Note has 5K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Board's written reviews are positive against 54% of Colored Note's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Board ships an update every 3 weeks, Colored Note weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
