# Ultimate Guitar vs GUITAR CHORD (Basic)

Ultimate Guitar and GUITAR CHORD (Basic) both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 69% of GUITAR CHORD (Basic)'s written reviews are positive against 34% of Ultimate Guitar's. GUITAR CHORD (Basic) also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.1). Ultimate Guitar's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (481K vs 69). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ultimate Guitar sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and GUITAR CHORD (Basic) sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ultimate Guitar holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ultimate Guitar has 481K ratings behind it against 69, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 34% of Ultimate Guitar's written reviews are positive against 69% of GUITAR CHORD (Basic)'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ultimate Guitar ships an update every 6 days, GUITAR CHORD (Basic) every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
