# Thermometer vs INFRARED THERMOMETER

The clearest difference is rating: Thermometer at 4.4 against INFRARED THERMOMETER's 1.7. Thermometer also leads on ratings volume (4.4K vs 12) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). INFRARED THERMOMETER's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Thermometer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. INFRARED THERMOMETER asks for nothing beyond the download.

Thermometer holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 1.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Thermometer has 4.4K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Thermometer's written reviews are positive against 50% of INFRARED THERMOMETER's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Thermometer ships an update every 2 months, INFRARED THERMOMETER every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
